Welcome to floorball, a fast-paced, exciting, low-cost type of indoor hockey. At first glance it resembles ball hockey or floor hockey but is played with advanced lightweight sticks and rules that make it much faster yet safer. Floorball can be played anywhere and is being used by more and more hockey organizations. Why make floorball a part of your hockey organization?
Youth hockey coaches encourage off-season sports to improve athleticism. Soccer, basketball, racquetball, and tennis are all promoted as excellent activities. Floorball has them ALL beat. Here are just a few of the reasons:
Many European born NHL players use floorball as their dry land training of choice. Floorball is embraced by many Canadian minor hockey teams. USA Hockey is enthusiastic about incorporating floorball in the ADM program. Floorball is a fantastic way for players to work on stick handling, passing and shooting when they are off the ice. In fact, if you incorporate floorball into your off-ice training to improve stick handling and passing, you'll be able to spend more of your valuable ice time on skating, critically important for the development of today's hockey player. With floorball, hockey players as you can practice their stickhandling, passing and shooting skills any where at any time. They will love the "feel" of the stick and the soft hands required to control the ball. Players can practice their moves in the basement, at the rink or on the street. Teams can get together to play in a gym, outdoors or in the rink when the ice is not available. At FloorballPlanet, we know floorball and we know hockey. Ask how you can add this low-cost activity to improve your hockey program. |
