Fitness Stars In 2013, the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League were looking to:
  • Grow its fan base and introduce hockey to a larger percentage of the local population.
  • Help fight childhood obesity by making a healthy lifestyle enjoyable and easy to maintain for kids of all ages.
  • Create a partnership with Dallas-Fort Worth area schools to introduce kids to hockey and hockey-like activities.
Fitness Stars Announcement In the Fall of 2013, the Dallas Stars Foundation introduced the "Fitness Stars" program:
  • The Stars enthusiastically embraced floorball as the best activity to introduce kids to the sport of hockey.
  • They partnered with FloorballPlanet to introduce floorball to area elementary schools while emphasizing the Dallas Stars brand.

  • The Fitness Stars Program Incorporates 5 Challenges:
    1. Strength
    2. Cardio
    3. Agility
    4. Healthy Choices
    5. Cross Training

    Fitness Stars is a 5-10 week program dedicated to reinforcing the importance of a healthy lifestyle where students will participate in 5 Fitness Stars challenges in their respective PE classes. With funding from the Dallas Stars Foundation, the Dallas Stars provide Floorball equipment for every participating elementary school physical education class along with physical fitness logs and charts for year-long display in elementary school gymnasiums.
