Straight blade sticks are used in progam settings - schools, community centers, hockey outreach programs, organizations of all types (including Special Olympics).
A straight blade sticks is just that -- the blade is NOT curved. It can be played equally well from either side. This is why organizations prefer these sticks in their programs. When people show up to play, you don't need to worry about having the correct "handedness". New players often don't even know which is their correct forehand side. Whether a player is "right handed" or "left handed" has no bearing on the correct passing/shooting side .
